The Victoria ISD Board of Trustees met in a special called board meeting on June 18 to discuss and take action regarding the superintendent search process. In a unanimous vote, the board selected to hire JCA Law, PLLC.
During the open session meeting, board members shared insights from their conversations with other school district trustees attending the Summer Leadership Institute (SLI), who had utilized one of the three considered search firms. It was agreed that the board must be deeply involved with whichever firm they select to ensure the best outcome for our students.
JCA Law will be invited to the July 18 Regular Board Meeting to meet with the board and discuss a timeline for hiring a new superintendent and the process of an active search and recruitment process that includes community and employee engagement opportunities.
Board members reviewed three search firms with presentations during the June 10 Regular Board Meeting. Dr. Quintin Shepherd, who served as superintendent for the district since 2018, announced his departure in May for the same role in Pflugerville ISD. In May, the Board named Deputy Superintendent Randy Meyer as the Interim Superintendent.
