Teacher Retirement System of Texas

The TRS retirement plan provides service and disability retirement benefits and death benefits. It is a defined benefit plan. Membership begins on your first day of eligible employment with a TRS-covered employer. As a TRS member, you're required by state law to contribute a percentage of your eligible compensation as your share of the funding for your benefits. Members who have at least five years of membership service credit are eligible to retire and receive a lifetime monthly annuity when they meet the applicable age requirement.
