Mission Statements of School Counselors
Elementary
The mission of the Victoria ISD Elementary Counselors is to provide a comprehensive, developmental guidance and counseling program. Counselors will nurture and support students in reaching full potential academically, socially, interpersonally, and in career readiness. The program is designed to promote and enhance student achievement by delivering prevention, intervention and referral services in collaboration with students, staff, families, and community.
Secondary
The mission of the Victoria ISD Secondary Counselors is to provide a comprehensive guidance program to all students, which develops personal and social skills to foster academic success necessary for post-secondary study and/or career fulfillment.
Purpose of the Guidance Counseling Curriculum
To systematically assist students develop the skills necessary to enhance their academic, personal, social, and career development.
Academic Development
Offer academic guidance through acquisition of student skills and relevant course selections based on individual student needs.Personal and Social Development
Foster development of healthy individual self-awareness and personal growth.Career Development
Promote programs of study for all students utilizing media and community resources. Encourage positive work habits and ethics
