VISD Communications Department Earns Multiple TSPRA STAR Awards for Excellence in School Communications

The Victoria ISD Communications Department has been recognized for excellence in school public relations, earning multiple Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) STAR Awards. The department competed in the 15,000 students or less category and received accolades across various media and publication categories, reinforcing its commitment to transparent and impactful storytelling.

The TSPRA STAR Awards celebrate outstanding school communications and marketing efforts, recognizing exceptional work in print, digital, and video content that engages school communities. Each year, school public relations professionals across Texas submit their best work to be judged by experts in the field.

VISD Communications was honored with two GOLD and four SILVER awards for its work in magazine publication, feature writing, edited news releases, and video storytelling:

This year’s achievements add to VISD Communications' continued success in school public relations. Since 2022, the department has earned two Crystal Merit Awards, 18 Gold STAR Awards, and 10 Silver STAR Awards, further solidifying its reputation for excellence. Additionally, Ashley Alvarez, Executive Director of Communications and Public Relations for VISD, was named TSPRA Rookie of the Year in 2022 for her leadership and contributions to enhancing district communication.

“These awards represent the dedication and hard work of our Communications team in sharing the stories of VISD’s students, staff, and initiatives,” said Alvarez. “We are honored to receive this recognition from TSPRA, and we remain committed to keeping our community informed and engaged.”
