The Victoria Independent School District (VISD) Multilingual Department hosted six teachers and two students visiting from the Escuela Normal Superior de Jalisco (ENSJ) in Mexico on January 11-13, 2023, as part of the Academic Collaboration Agreement.
Our guests from ENSJ participated in an educational program titled “Teaching and Learning for Bilingual Education in Victoria ISD.” During their visit to VISD, they learned about the Dual Language teaching methodology used at Crain Elementary School so that they can advocate and train future bilingual teacher candidates from ENSJ who are interested in joining our VISD family in the upcoming years.
“Our academic collaboration with ENSJ has been a fantastic opportunity for both of our institutions to work together for the benefit of our students,” said Roberto Rosas, Director of VISD’s Multilingual Department. “By developing this additional pipeline of qualified educators, VISD will be on the cutting edge of recruitment in a time when locating and retaining teachers who speak both Spanish and English is extremely challenging.”
